From MSNBC:

“JACKSONVILLE, Fl. — At his first rally without Palin since selecting her as his running mate, McCain attracted roughly 3,000 people at an arena here with 16,000 seats.”

After the jump, a clip from that event (no, you can’t tell the size of the crowd) + an economically-themed ad that McCain had planned on releasing this week - before the Lehman Brothers/AIG meltdowns happened.

That’s a distinct contrast to an ad McCain released today (particularly the 1st line), which doesn’t mention his opponent by name:

The Obama campaign pounced on this discrepancy:

“That shows that he is extraordinarily out of touch,” said campaign spokesman Tommy Vietor. “It’s even more surprising when you look at his ad today that shows the economy in crisis, that’s the lead of his ad.”
