NewsChannel 9 Assignment Manager Melydia Clewell tells me she just got a call from the Obama campaign at 4:15pm this afternoon. For those of you who don’t know, 4:15 is a pretty major crunch time for our evening shows.

Obama Campaign Rep: “We just wanted to touch base with you to talk about your coverage of the convention in Denver.”

Melydia (trust me, as polite as possible): “You’re calling me at 4:15 to discuss this? You realize we’re in the eastern time zone, right? We have a newscast on in 45 minutes, we’re a little busy right now.”

Obama Campaign Rep: “So… we should call you tomorrow then?”

Melydia: “About what? We’re in Chattanooga, half a country away from Denver!”

_vote08blog3.jpgI guess I need to break the news.. as much as I’d prefer the contrary, we are not sending a crew to Denver to cover the convention. If it were Atlanta, sure. But no. No Denver. (Dang it.)
