as if the above photos of the Straight Talk Express (taken yesterday) weren’t bad enough..

“Taking a break from hitting Senator Barack Obama, Republican presidential candidate John McCain hit a minivan yesterday.

Ironically, the Straight Talk Express had trouble turning right.

The Miami Herald reports that McCain’s bus “was involved in a car accident with a mini-van when both tried turning right” onto the same street. No one was injured.

McCain himself was apparently not onboard the bus at the time. The Herald reports that the bus was delivering Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) to a campaign event. We can only assume that McCain was in his Cadillac instead.

Jalopnik comments, “You have no idea how hard it was to not make a joke about taking away old peoples licenses.” (Or, for that matter, the appeal of Caddy sedans to the septuagenarian set). So don’t blame us — send angry letters to them.

From the Herald’s photographs of the accident, the van appears to be a late 1990’s Chrysler product. There, we somehow managed to justify reporting this on an automotive news site. Let’s see if it slips past our editor…

Was your minivan recently crushed by an advocate of offshore drilling? Search for a replacement from the best minivans list at U.S. News. With five new minivans achieving near perfect safety scores, they’re practically politician-proof. - US News & World Report

You can see photos of the accident here.
