Longtime Vote08 commenter Chuck Waller asks for our help sorting out something he’s heard:

“Hello again Dan. I have a question and I haven’t been able to find the answer yet. Did Mr. Obama have the American flag removed from his airplane? If so, why? Could this be some kind of coded message to “someone”? All this mess is becoming very sinister. After all, what kind of true American, running for the highest elected office of this country, would do that? Here again, I’m trying diligently to do my homework and all I’m coming up with, is more confusing than enlightening. Please advise. Thank you—Chuck”

It says that the claim is true (click the link for more).

Should you make hay out of this? My take: no. For people who already believe that Obama is somehow “refusing” to act patriotic (to which I reply - why in heaven’s name would he seek the highest office in the land if that were the case?) - this will fit into their mindset perfectly.

But take another look at John McCain’s plane. Do you see any flags?
