Well, there’s the Newsweek cover connection.. but also! Watch:

All three appear in John McCain’s new campaign ad!
Is it really wise to link Par & Brit to Barry? A friend raises some thought-provoking points about it in a recent e-mail:
“The new one starts with the words, “He’s the biggest celebrity in the world.” Over shots of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.
Hey! Guys! Unlike you all, most people LIKE Britney Spears and Paris Hilton! That’s why they are celebrities!
Then they show Ob waving to throng, throng chants “O-BA-MA.” For quite a while.
Then they get around to telling you he doesn’t support offshore drilling and is gonna raise taxes, but I think it’s too late by then!
We just found out he’s the biggest celebrity in the world!
People are joiners. Everyone wants to back a winner. In this country, celebrities are winners. And they’re saying he’s celebrity #1.
It’s basically a ‘vote for Obama’ ad. People will remember the footage and the chanting of his name a lot longer than the contention that he’ll raise taxes etc.
Totally, totally dumb. Who is doing his visuals? Awful.”
What do you think about it?
UPDATE: I mentioned this post to a couple of co-workers.
CO-WORKER #1: You know, Paris, Britney & Obama also have each visited hospitals.
CO-WORKER #2: Yeah, but McCain’s been to the hospital more times than all three put together.
Zing!
UPDATE #2: Eerie foreshadowing time.
ABC’s Jake Tapper wrote on his blog 8 days ago re: McCain’s obsession with the media’s obsession with Obama:
“This is like Britney Spears complaining that the hype around Miley Cyrus far exceeds her talent.”
UPDATE: See what FactCheck.org has to say about the ad here.
