ATLANTA (AP) - Libertarian Party presidential candidate Bob Barr said he’s receiving backing from supporters of Ron Paul’s failed White House bid.
Barr told reporters on Thursday that he’s in contact with the Republican congressman from Texas. And he added that Paul supporters are contributing to his campaign and working as volunteers. Paul is a former Libertarian candidate for president himself. He recently dropped out of the GOP race after it became clear Arizona Sen. John McCain had secured the nomination.
Paul still enjoys a loyal base of support. Some of them say they are now giving Barr a look.
Barr, a former congressman and federal prosecutor from Georgia, was at the state Capitol filing ballot access paperwork.
As we’ve shown earlier, Barr’s presence in the race makes the battle for Georgia one to watch in the coming months.
What do you think?

Expect some Paul supporters to back Chuck Baldwin and the Constitution Party also. And still others to remain committed to the Republican cause.
I suppose there is some chance that former Paul supporters may join Team Obama. Not too likely, but: I was once on the fence between Paul and Obama. I ultimately ended up strongly for Obama, but Paul’s views on many issues, but most importantly on the Iraq war, keep my respect for him high.
The diffusion of Paulites…what effect will they have in November, if any?

Excellent question, Joe.
One has to assume Barr gets the lion’s share.
I would say migration to Nader is minimal.
You also have to remember that next to Hillary Clinton supporters the Paulites are the primary voters with the most bitter taste in their mouths.. there’s a good chance that many of them will sit on their hands. I hope that’s not the case.
