Happy Friday the 13th!
Both of the presidential candidates have their share of superstitions.
John McCain is hands-down the most superstitious presidential candidate we’ve seen in quite a while.

This penny’s just the tip of the iceberg. Here’s a survey of his lucky charms & superstitions, as spelled out in a recent article in the Washington Times:

If you ever find yourself eating with McCain, don’t pass the salt. He considers it bad luck to take it from your hand.
John McCain will never put a hat on a bed. (Superstition says it means death will soon visit the household).
“Whenever anyone says something optimistic — especially about this fall’s general election — a slew of staffers join him in knocking on wood.”
In his pockets, McCain carries
A lucky feather.
A lucky compass.

36 cents worth of lucky change. Naturally, he only picks change up off the ground if it’s heads-up.
He carries a laminated four-leaf clover.
On each day voters will decide for him or against him, McCain takes in a movie. He started this in 1982, when he saw “The Empire Strikes Back.”
Here’s a look at what was found recently (for Time Magazine) in Obama’s pockets:

The caption reads: “Amongst the things that Barack Obama carries for good luck are a bracelet belonging to a soldier deployed in Iraq, a gambler’s lucky chit, a tiny monkey god and a tiny Madonna and child.”

Obama was also known to play basketball on every day there was a primary this year.
True story: today I stopped to get gas.. & it was only after I got out of the car to prepay that I noticed I was at pump 13. I then looked down to see a penny & picked it up — despite the fact that it was face down. I hope I’m not tempting fate.
What do you think? Is this just plain silly? Or do you have superstitions that you believe are completely necessary? Let’s hear from you!
