STORIES FROM THE GUTTER: OBAMA “BOWLS”

OK, I understand the point of trying to show voters that you’re “blue collar..”
But an attempt by Barack Obama at bowling over the weekend didn’t really bowl that many people over.

In fact, not that he would welcome the comparison by any means, but this almost brings to mind a few years back when NewsChannel 9’s Calvin Sneed threw out the first pitch at a Lookouts game. Would that I had a YouTube clip to share with you; let’s just say that Calvin came nowhere close to hitting the plate.
The moral (for both Calvin & Barack): PRACTICE BEFORE YOU’RE IN THE CAMERA’S GLARE.
Speaking of which, you can see a video clip of Obama bowling .. & see how the critics “strike”… after the jump.

“Mr. Obama takes no small pride in his athleticism but he was back-pedaling from the start. “I just want to point out that the last time I bowled was 30 years ago, when I was 16,” he cautioned the crowd gathering to ask for his autograph and a photo.
…
Mr. Obama picked up a ball, cued up all confident-like, and sent the thing into the gutter. “We’re just warming up,” Mr. Obama assured himself, maybe.
Mr. Obama, it turns out, was a weak centrist. His balls rolled down the center of the lane, but much too slowly to knock over more than a half dozen or so pins. “You notice I’m getting better?” he asked.
“Let me tell you something,” Obama said to the crowd. “My economic plan is better than my bowling.” A man standing at the next lane called out, “It has to be.”
Give that man in the next lane a cigar.

This is not the first time a candidate has stepped a bit… outside of his element to try to win votes with the local populace. If memory serves, this ‘hunting trip’ John Kerry took in the 2004 general campaign didn’t help him a darn bit. But will his “bowling” have the same effect on Obama?
What do you think?
