ATTACK OF THE YOUTUBES

It’s the first “YouTube” election, & the candidates are capitalizing big-time on the user-friendly site. We’ll show you how you can access their latest moves on the campaign trail — & show you some - nay, LOTS - of their & their supporters videos — after the jump.
First off, if you want to see commercials & recent clips from the campaign trail
strongly recommends bookmarking this page, YouTube’s “YouChoose 08″ channel.
John McCain has spent the weekend out of the camera glare criss-crossing the country raising money for his campaign, so right now his page doesn’t have any clips of him on the trail.
There is this -frankly, somewhat trippy- 2-minute piece featuring clips & quotes from McCain that alternate with images of Winston Churchill, Teddy Roosevelt, and, for some reason, shots from the Hubble telescope:

Right now the ‘highlighted’ video of Barack Obama’s page features a speech he gave on Wednesday in Illinois, where he received the endorsements of Flag Officers from the Army, Navy and Air Force:

Over at Hillary’s page, it’s a clip from a recent town hall meeting apparently moderated by actress Mary Steenburgen:

YouTube, of course, provides a wealth of other, non-serious — who are we kidding, just plain odd — clips.
Here’s McCain singing Streisand (no, really).

Barack Obama’s supporters have had great success with this video, called “Yes We Can,” but frankly its ubiquitous sappiness & sanctimoniousness makes us want to brush our teeth after viewing it:

This of course has opened the floodgates of ridicule, of which this 45-second clip is just an example:

YouTube is user-generated, & Hillary’s supporters have made an impromptu (?) music video of their own:

But out of all the remaining candidates running nothing can compare, cheese-wise, to this clip, which gives off extremely heavy 1982 vibes:

“The world is getting hot/but our global warming plan is not”??? What, did a 10-year-old write those lyrics?
Hope you enjoyed. Have a great weekend.

I am really enjoying your blog, but could you please explain what “after the jump” means? Thanks!
